About Piper Warlick - Professional NC Wedding Photographer and NC Portrait Photographer

In high school, I picked up a camera and fell in love. I’d taken pictures before, of course, on little 35mm Kodaks and rainbow-striped Polaroids, but when I finally started to learn about the technical and artistic elements of photography in my teenage years, I was powerfully smitten. That sense of awe and wonder for the way in which photography preserves moments in time—often our most precious moments—has never left me.

I continued to shoot throughout my college years, and then earned my credential in photography from the Creative Circus in Atlanta in 2002. I founded Piper Warlick Photography that same year and have been shooting portraits and weddings ever since. I feel so fortunate to do what I do. Over the last nineteen years, I have been trusted to capture moments large and small in the lives of my clients, and because I am growth-minded, my skill and artistry has grown with me. Above all, I am a lover of people—every race, creed, color, faith, gender affiliation, and sexual orientation—and I take immense pride and joy from contributing my craft to the lives of my clients.

What I truly cherish, more than anything else, is when people reach out to me and tell me who they are at this moment in time—graduating from high school, having a baby, losing a loved one or beloved pet, completing gender reassignment, proposing to a partner or getting married, whatever—and then trust me to capture that essence in the photographs we create together. If I have a gift, it’s that I genuinely LOVE people. I want to know you. I want to talk with you and laugh with you and I want to learn you as you learn me. There’s a power to that intimacy that transcends the casual relationships between many photographers and their clients, and that comfort comes through in every image.

Outside of my presence behind the camera, I am a wife, a mother of two, a trash-collecting stand-up-paddleboarder, a yoga addict, and a burgeoning roller skater. I love the people in my life, I love my dog and two cats, I even love the family hamster, Joker--and I LOVE my job.

Reading and self-education have taken up a special place in my life since the beginning of quarantine in March of 2020. In a world where photo sessions were suddenly impossible, I dove into books about modern politics. I devoured books by my favorite comedians and musicians. I cried as I read books about gender, race, trans issues, and sexual identity. I established accounts at the library so that I could get my books electronically, and I purchased an Libro.fm membership so that I could listen to books the library could not provide. Over the last year, I have learned so much. More than anything, I have learned how little I know, and I have learned how eager I am to keep building myself as a human being and as a professional.

I want to work with you, and if what you’re looking for is a photographer interested in capturing the authentic YOU in timeless and natural images, then you want to work with me. I hope you’ll get in touch.
