Christ Episcopal Wedding, Charlotte Country Club Reception, Leslie & Hugh

I watched the weather report all week long. There was no way around it–it was going to rain on Leslie and Hugh’s wedding day. Luckily, I knew the church and reception venues by heart. I was sure that I could give Leslie and Hugh all the emotional, romantic and meaningful images they were hoping for AND keep her gorgeous dress in pristine condition for the reception. What I didn’t expect was that their wedding images would become some of my favorites, EVER. The credit goes to Leslie and Hugh on that count. They have known one another for most of their lives, having attended the same church and schools growing up, eventually dating once they were in college. Leslie and Hugh have such an easy chemistry. When they chose ME to document their wedding day, I just knew we were going to have some fun together. From their sunrise garden engagement session in Atlanta to their “perfect” wedding day, these two were a pleasure to point my camera at.

And thinking back about it now, their engagement session only became a sunrise session because the sunset session we had scheduled for the night before was rained out. These two and rain… So much good luck. Not only does rain signify a cleansing of the past and the promise of fertility, but, you know the way getting married is referred to as “tying the knot,” well, a wet knot is far more difficult to untie than a dry one. These two are set for life, with good luck to spare.

Surrounded by their friends and family, in that same church where they spent so much time together as children, they made it official. Afterwards, the party kicked into high gear at one of my all-time favorite venues in town, Charlotte Country Club. Sara, of Hall & Webb Event Design, and the incredible staff at the club pulled together one fabulous party. Thanks to the Crystal Clear Band, no one left the dance floor all night long.
